Hollywood movies in Port Angeles

Port_Angeles_moviesPort Angeles has played  small parts in some great movies.    The Olympic Peninsula has been visited by some  of the great actors of Hollywood.   You might wonder if we have any big names from Hollywood regularly visiting the Olympic Peninsula, either Sequim or Port Angeles, or if any own getaway homes here, but consistent with my articles about purchasing real estate anonymously and about asset protection and privacy, if I know, I’m not saying.   But we can look at what movies have segments filmed here, and who has spent time here.   With the beautiful Strait of Juan de Fuca, this is a perfect place to film a submarine scene, and with our Olympic National Park and mountains, this is also a great place for a wildlife scene.

This statement is completely false: “2008 – Twilight with Kirsten Stewart filmed in Forks, Washington. ”

Literally none of Twilight was filmed up here, not even 1 second. The book set the story as taking place here, and the movie did the same of course, but it was filmed down in Oregon where they had a much more fitting building resembling the “school”. The only thing that Forks, Port Angeles, and the rest of the Peninsula are tied to the book and movies are just literally the names, no actual locations whatsoever. I thought this would have been common knowledge by now

Folks, “Jessica from PA” is correct – the Twilight movie takes place in Forks, but it WAS NOT filmed there.

It’s interesting that the Olympic Peninsula would be a place for filming movies, but after seeing Twilight it makes sense. Beautiful out there on La Push beach too.

A lot of people like me are looking for and reading the kind of niche real estate information you have here. Thanks for posting all these articles. I see there are over a thousand articles. That’s cool.

We enjoy your articles about the Sequim real estate market, and especially about buying a home in Sequim and prices and negotiating, but also appreciate the honesty of your articles about dual agency and how a buyer should do his due diligence when hiring a real estate agent. Good stuff.

I’ve read about Sequim in a magazine about best places to retire, and so your blog has been very helpful. Great information, please keep posting. My wife and I are thinking about retiring ourselves in Sequim. We’ve subscribed to your email newsletter, and it’s fantastic. We realize it must take an awful lot of time and work to put together all the articles and videos that you post, but please know that we appreciate it, and we are using it.

    Just so you know:
Twilight was not filmed in Port Angeles nor Forks but instead in Portland, OR and California. Apparently it was too expensive to film in Forks, but Portland’s weather and forests are very similar.

The actual buildings here don’t resemble the stuff portrayed in the book, notably the school. That is the reason why they filmed it down in Oregon, so it would be more believable to the book

I don’t remember seeing Linden in this movie, but will have to watch it again to look for him! I’m so glad he’s coming back to Days – thought for sure that his character was dead! Thanks for the tip!
