Is spring the best time of year to buy a home? Or is that just a myth? If it is a myth, it’s one believed by many buyers, and also many sellers believe there is a “best time of year to sell a home.” Is it true that the winter months are dead and the spring months are best?
The Best Time of Year to Buy a Home May Be Anytime
I hear sellers often say they took their homes off the market during the winter months because “homes aren’t selling.” I’m always surprised a little when I hear that, because it simply is not true. I have a client who told me her real estate agent told her that, too. Last month during January of 2013, according to our Olympic Listing Service, sixty-one (61) homes sold and were closed. That means three homes are selling every single work day of the week. This alone debunks the myth that there is a best time of year to buy a home or a best time to sell a home. There is no better time than today or any day.
The Best Time of Year to Buy a Home
Obviously homes are selling. Three homeowners are selling their homes every day. And three buyers are closing on their homes every day. In a small real estate market like the Sequim and Port Angeles market, this means there is not a best time of year to buy a home. The best time of year to buy a home could be any day of the week, any week of the year.
