Is it true that the Sequim real estate market slows down in the winter months? If so, what does that mean for buyers and sellers? Let’s dispel some misconceptions about the real estate market over the next few months.
Real Estate Market Slows
The real estate market does slow down during the winter months compared with the spring and summer months, but when you realize that one house closes every working day during the winter months (in prior years), that tells us that buyers continue to look at homes all year long and buy homes nearly every week day of the year.
Real Estate Market Still Very Active
Since the super majority of buyers who move to Sequim are retirees, our buying and selling season does not depend on young families moving before and after the school year in the fall and the spring. Buyers are coming all year long to see if Sequim is where they want to retire.
This also has major implications for home sellers in Sequim. If you want to sell your home, why take it off the market during the winters months when homes are selling every day? In fact, if you take your home off the market until next spring, you could actually miss that one buyer for whom your home would have been perfect. The Sequim real estate market is still very active during the winter.
