You are reading the most powerful and largest real estate blog in the Sequim and Port Angeles area and on the entire Olympic Peninsula. Readers like you, millions since this site was created, read articles every day on this real estate blog. They use the many tools and relevant links found on this site, they watch the videos, read the books, and they use the powerful Sequim MLS site. But what you and millions of prospective buyers do not know is what it takes to maintain a site this large. For the first time I share just a tip of the iceberg on what the back office involves to maintain this site for all our readers. We thought you might enjoy a brief peek under the hood.
Real Estate Blog Works Night and Day
In this image above you can see some of the story: there are over 1,500 articles on this blog, over 1,400 photographs, 100’s of videos, 2,996 comments, 1,149 comments in moderation, and 716 comments in the spam queue right now. We have deleted thousands of spam comments over the past few years alone, and that doesn’t count the tens of thousands that are removed by our special anti-spam software. We have defended this site against attack after attack by hackers, and some of those attacks were attempts to completely destroy this site. The entire site was taken down several years ago by a person intent on destroying this entire site. Who would do such a thing? I have no idea.
Real Estate Blog – Security and Attacks
What does it take to survive and maintain this site for you and other buyers? It takes old fashioned hard work, thousands of hours of work over the past seven years, a wheel barrel full of money on software, security, and expertise, and literally seven days a week from early in the morning to late at night (often past midnight). It requires security on several levels. It requires constant updates on software, and it means keeping up on the latest defenses against viruses and malware. We’ve had to become experts on the techniques that hackers use to control a site, how they get in the back door, and what vulnerabilities they look for, and there are many. This real estate blog must be kept absolutely clean so it doesn’t infect any of its users. It also means keeping backup copies on site and off site just in case the site is taken down. Service providers must be reliable 24/7 and must have their own security. The sweat and stress involved in protecting and maintaining this site would surprise most people if they knew all that is involved.
Of course, all this is in addition to creating the articles on this real estate blog, researching subjects, writing, editing multiple times, taking thousands of photos, editing and matching photos with articles, and creating and editing videos. Then there is programming, designing intuitive navigation, search engine optimization, and so on.
Why do we do all this? That’s easy. Because we put our clients at the center of the Universe, and we serve our clients with all our hearts and minds. Our clients tell us they love this real estate blog, and they find it useful. Many of these clients see how serious we are about helping them find their ideal home, and how we walk them through the entire buying process with more passion than anyone else. We love what we do, and we hope you find this real estate blog useful too. If you do, leave a comment from time to time. Others probably would appreciate your thoughts on some of the many subjects covered on Sequim’s largest real estate blog.
