This is a fun little Port Townsend video tour intended for your entertainment, and if you’ve not driven through Port Townsend, you’ll see it as though you were there. If you know Port Townsend, you’ll recognize these sites. I had fun doing this. If you want to view the Port Townsend real estate listings, I recommend my Port Townsend MLS site (which includes Sequim and Port Angeles and Port Ludlow and Port Hadlock). Link: Port Townsend MLS.
Port Townsend is unique in many ways, and while it is only a 25 minute drive from Sequim, culturally it feels like it is on a different planet. We often joke on the Olympic Peninsula about Port Townsend in a friendly way by saying that “All the 1960s hippies from Berkley moved to Port Townsend.” It’s more true than not, and it’s known as one of the most liberal little towns in Washington state.
Aside from the politics, I enjoy a Sunday afternoon drive to Port Townsend on a sunny day to eat lunch at one of my favorite restaurants there, enjoy a Breve coffee, and to walk the piers and around town.
Real estate is a little more expensive in Port Townsend than it is in Sequim, and Sequim’s prices have gone way up as they have nearly everywhere in the country. There’s more rain than in Sequim, too. There is a lot of unusual architecture there, and this probably is the result of the influx of creative and often eclectic background of people from California. You’ll see more complicated roof lines and some craftsman, contemporary, Victorian, Dutch Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, and some homes that are clearly created by their owners.
Come and visit, but until then I hope you enjoy this Port Townsend video tour.
