I’ve been asking clients for a couple of decades how they find their Realtor, and what I’ve learned is that “branding,” which is promoted and talked about all the time is really not how clients choose their Sequim real estate agent. It’s not how people choose their agent around the country. Here’s an entertaining video with some real interviews of people on the street. Thought you might enjoy this.

Over the last 35 years I have been involved in a number of real estate transactions. For the most part I have very positive memories of the process and the agents with whom I worked. Also, for the most part I cannot remember the name of the broker the agent worked for. Personal recommendations and in my last two transactions the internet were the driving factor in chosing an agent. The brokerage firm did not enter into my decision at all.
Chuck,
While the video highlights 4 folks from Plymouth, Michigan, my intuition tells me that if I interviewed more folks from a bunch of areas, the results would be pretty consistent.
As consumers, we like to work with those we like. We work with those folks that we believe will help us accomplish our goals. If the brand of the broker adds to our ability to assist our clients..EXCELLENT!
Unfortunately, with the amount of money spent on national advertising and branding, I don’t get the feeling that broker branding matters much at all for the real estate consumer. And isn’t the real estate consumer the ultimate client here?
Thanks for using the video Chuck!
