“I can’t find my perfect home” is a complaint I have heard lately from buyers shopping for their perfect home in the Sequim area. Granted the inventory is low right now, but some buyers have set up an impossible search, and that’s what I want talk about today. Perhaps this can help you avoid disappointment if you cannot find your perfect home.
The Perfect Home Search
The first kind of “impossible search” for the perfect home would be a search that is unrealistic for the Sequim real estate market. For example, if you want five acres with room for a future shop and parking for your RV and boat and room for extra vehicles, and you want a 2,000 square foot home that doesn’t need a lot of work, AND if your budget is under $200,000, you are not going to find what you want. It just doesn’t exist at that price in the Sequim area. Not even close. You should search both the Olympic Listing Service and the Northwest MLS at Find the Perfect Home. (Notice the drop down menu for each MLS.)
Perfect Home Impossibility
The second kind of search for the perfect home that could set you up for disappointment is a very unique set of search parameters in any price range. For example, if you search for your perfect home with parameters like these: a single level, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home, 2,200 to 2,600 square feet, a modern kitchen with marble countertops, a three car attached garage, a detached shop building with at least 1,600 square feet, a nice water view, no covenants or restrictions, and total privacy, you are likely to be disappointed. For accuracy, I recommend Sequim-Homes.com for your Sequim MLS site. Don’t use national sites, because those are full of mistakes and incorrect data.
I wrote else elsewhere that Buying a Home is About Compromising. In a practical sense, there may not be such a thing as the perfect home.
