Living in Sequim is wonderful, and after 29 years in Sequim, I can personally testify to that. And many of my buyer clients say the same thing about Sequim. It truly is an amazing place to live. I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it here. It’s not just a dozen reasons Sequim is such a great place to live: It’s 100 little reasons that make Sequim an ideal place to live and retire. It’s the breathtaking natural beauty, the unique rain shadow that gifts us with great weather, the peace of mind that comes with incredibly low crime rates, the safety of the community, the freedom from traffic jams, and most of all—the warm, welcoming people who make this place truly special. We’re in the midst of spring breaking out all over the Olympic Peninsula, and today, the sun is out bright and shiny. As I love to say, “It’s another gorgeous day in Paradise.”
I have a morning routine, which consists of letting the dogs out, making a cup of delicious hot gourmet french roast, and after letting the dogs in and giving them their morning snack, I settle in at the computer to do a little work. After working at my computer for a couple of hours, my dogs always know when it’s time to pull me away and go outside for their morning exercise with the ball and frisbee. We like our animals in Sequim, and it seems like everyone has cats or dogs, or if you have a little acreage, sheep, goats, chickens, a cow or two, and maybe even a couple of horses round out the family farm. I have my own mini-farm, and so at one time or another.
I’m an Exclusive Buyer’s Agent in Sequim and the surrounding area, and I love working with buyers from all over the country. Where do our buyers come from? Almost all of my buyer clients are retirees coming from California, Colorado, Texas, Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, New York, Nevada, and Arizona. I’ve sold homes to clients from 35 states and even the Netherlands and Poland. As the metropolitan regions of the U.S. continue to drive people out into the rural areas, like Sequim, retirees are discovering Sequim as one of the safest places in the country, one of the most peaceful with no temperature extremes either way, and with hiking, fishing, and boating, what more could you ask for in a perfect retirement community?
Last week, I sold buyers in Colorado a gorgeous home in the hills with a stunning view of Sequim Bay and Mount Baker on the horizon. It’s in perfect condition and sold for $1.1 million cash. Most retirees are paying in cash these days and are unwilling to pay high mortgage interest rates. Retirees typically sell a home in another state and use those funds to purchase their home in Sequim.
I have another buyer couple coming from Colorado who are purchasing a farm in Sequim right now. We’re working through all the due diligence on the property as we approach closing. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that the majority of retirees moving to the Sequim area are very health conscious. Organic vegetable gardens, raising chickens for fresh eggs, eating non-processed foods, and getting moderate exercise are part of their regular regimen. No wonder retirees love living in Sequim so much!
