Sequim, Washington residents are enjoying liquid sunshine every day lately, and it has been gorgeous. Sequim weather and the reputation Sequim has as “Sunny Sequim” is being proven daily as we enjoy living in one of the best places in the country to retire. This past weekend and yesterday I was showing property to a couple from out of state who have been thinking about moving to Sequim for many years. They want to buy a large parcel and have their own custom home built. It’s a very exciting plan, and as their buyer’s agent, it is my privilege to help them through the process from the beginning to the closing of the land and then through the home building process.
Many of my clients initially are looking at Sequim for their land or home, but Port Angeles is only 15 miles from Sequim, and there is a lot of beautiful property between Sequim and Port Angeles. Sequim is 20 minutes closer to Seattle, whether you drive or take the ferry, and Port Angeles is closer to Victoria via ferry. If you are an avid fishermen who loves fishing the hot spots around the Peninsula west of Port Angeles, you may prefer Port Angeles or even west of Port Angeles. Homes and land are slightly less than Sequim as you move west.
Sequim does have tremendous appeal to many retirees for many reasons, the least of which is the sunny weather and the rain shadow. You can read much more about Sequim and its appeal (and real estate issues for buyers) in my book, Buying and Selling Real Estate in the Rain Shadow.
