Why retire in Sequim? There are many reasons to retire in Sequim, and if you’ve been doing your online research, you already know that. The climate and temperatures, the low crime rate, the beauty of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains and all the trails and recreation in our backyard, the friendliness of the people, the peace of being far from the metropolitan insanity we are observing in our big cities on the west coast, and when your primitive spirit craves a few hours in the concrete jungle, we’re only a couple of hours from enjoying a Saturday afternoon in Seattle at Pike’s Street Market or perhaps a concert or a game. Why retire in Sequim? How about this? You want to escape California. That’s exactly what a large percentage of my buyers are doing. They tell me they are escaping from California to the serene beauty of Sequim. That’s not hard to understand. After all, most of us living in Sequim did something similar. I escaped the gangs and crime and heat of Las Vegas and brought my family to Sequim in 1994. Best decision of my life, not only for me, but for my children.
